Off-the-shelf vasculature: Biofabrication of non-immunogenic decellularized human vascular grafts

Angus Weekes is a Queensland University of Technology (QUT) postgraduate researcher working in collaboration with the Metro North Hospital & Health Service Herston Biofabrication Institute. As a graduate from QUT’s dual Bachelor of Engineering (Medical) (Hons I) / Bachelor of Science (Physics) program, Angus has a strong background in medial engineering research and a keen interest in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His PhD research aims to develop a novel approach to the biofabrication of clinically applicable small diameter human vascular grafts to improve treatment options in the clinical management of cardiovascular disease, utilising melt-electrowriting, cell culture and decellularization processes.
