Outstanding PhD Candidates

The CBT Lunch Club offers our HDR students and early career researchers an opportunity to network with like-minded, give practice talks and be inspired by external presenters.

At the May event Motahare (Moti) Hosseini delivered an excellent Confirmation Seminar practice talk. The event was chaired by Angus Weekes.

CBT awards January – April 2023

Big congratulations, Zizhen Ding to the CBT Outstanding HDR Award in May 2023

The motivation for the Outstanding HDR Award:
Less than one year into his PhD, he published one article in Materials Horizons. The work is featured on the hardback cover of the journal and in the Journal’s emerging investigators series. Since his transfer to QUT, he has made significant progress despite the time it takes to settle in a new environment, and apply to PR. His significant progress includes (1) one review article under review in Materials Horizons; (2) developing a new ceramic resin formulation that promises a previously impossible resolution for us to achieve. This award can help Zizhen and our group significantly because all students see that their hard work and dedication are seen and valued.  Nominated by Dr Mohammad Mirkhalaf

Fantastic work by Agathe Bessot rewarded with the Best HDR/ECR Publication Award – Jan-April

– I am thrilled and honoured to receive the award for Best HDR/ECR Research Publication on my first PhD research paper. I am very grateful for the support and contribution of my supervisors and co-authors, without whom this would not have been possible, as well as the people who nominated our paper and the CBT committee. This award means a lot to me as this article was my very first paper ever written and published, says Agathe.
