Inspiring Lunch Club with Dr Allenby

Thank you Dr Mark Allenby for your inspiring talk at the latest Lunch Club on Engineering your own regenerative niche: ECR strategies to pursue academic careers in biomedical technologies.

Nathalie Bock & Jacqui McGovern, Internal Engagement Lead were hosting this event.

Also a big applaud to our HDR students Jordan DavernLaura MiltonJulien Clegg and Angus Weekes who presented short talks about their exciting research in preparation for the Australasian Society for biomaterials and tissue engineering (ASBTE) annual conference in Christchurch, New Zealand later this year, where they all succeeded in getting an oral presentation.

Dr Mark C Allenby is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering and an ARC DECRA Fellow within UQ’s School of Chemical Engineering. Mark is also an Advance Queensland Fellow and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at QUT. Mark’s background includes the engineering of dynamic stem cell bioreactors for tissue biomanufacturing, automated signal and image processing for tissue diagnostics, and model-based prediction, optimisation, and control algorithms for 4D cell systems.

Transitioning from an HDR student and an early career researcher to an independent researcher is an exciting and challenging time in an academic career. The CBT Lunch Club gathers researchers to discuss various topics and to hear about others’ career journeys.
