Connected/Cooperative intelligent transport systems have the potential to create a safer driving environment by relaying safety relevant information from other vehicles and infrastructure directly to the driver. The information is intended to increase driver awareness of potentially hazardous events via a display mounted in the forward field of view. My current research explores the potential for these systems from an HMI design and usability perspective, as well as from a safety, behaviour change, and technology adoption perspective.
