For active transport to be sustainable, it must be safe. Walking, cycling, e-scooters, and other non/semi-motorised low speed mobility modes are most often integrated with other forms of transport, particularly public transport. As active transport users are exposed to higher risk of collision compared to vehicle occupants, this safety concern inhibits uptake.
By ensuring that active transport is safe, CARRS-Q will contribute to broader health, environmental, and sustainable liveability agendas.
