Putting a human face on cyclists in the ACT

A previous pilot study by the research team found that around half of non-cyclists hold beliefs that regard cyclists as less than fully human. These ‘dehumanising’ beliefs were associated with self-reported aggressive behaviour toward cyclists.

This new study aims to test interventions that can potentially reduce negative attitudes regarding cyclists and therefore aggression directed to them. Ultimately, this project may help improve the often-fractious relationship between cyclists and motorists and thus improve the safety of ACT cyclists.
