The aim of this project is to develop and test a new model of risky driving behaviour that incorporates misuse of driver support technology. There are two main contributions of this research proposal: firstly, a theoretical understanding of misuse of technology as a part of risky driving behaviours, and secondly, we will develop analytical tools to measure misuse of technology that will facilitate further research in the field and contribute to the development of injury prevention interventions (e.g. education, law enforcement, policy development, etc.).
To achieve the research aim, two interlinked studies will be conducted: an interview-based study and a questionnaire survey.
