Being a driver of a semi-automated vehicle can be a daunting task, especially since you often do not know what the vehicle’s exact intentions are. For example, you are often unsure if the car has seen the bend in the road ahead, next to that cliff-edge, or whether the car will stop and give way at the stop sign ahead. This research project aims to determine whether an intended pathway, displayed through an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, could help drivers foresee what the upcoming maneuvers of the semi-automated vehicle will be, and whether it results in improved road safety outcomes.
