Mr Peter McMillan is a Fire Officer with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services currently serving in South East Region. He has a strong background in Operational Performance, Aerial Operations and Advanced Driver Training. Mr McMillan completed a Masters of Emergency Management with a thesis titled “Guideline for Fire Brigade Intervention Model for Aerial Operations in Queensland“.

“Auditory Exclusion in Drivers of Heavy Vehicles during Urgent Duty Driving in Emergency Services”

This Masters project is designed to identify what Auditory Exclusion is and how it affects safe driving performance of Firefighters when driving heavy vehicles under ‘lights and sirens’. The intent of the research is to provide some basis for the phenomena ‘Auditory Exclusion’ to be recognised and to provide methods of training for reduced risk to Emergency Services Staff and the general public when responding to Emergency Incidents.
