CARRS-Q hosts interns in unpaid positions from overseas universities and partner organisations.
What is an Internship?
An Internship is designed for students from overseas institutions wanting to further develop their skills in their current area of tertiary study or field of expertise. Internships are available on a temporary basis.
At CARRS-Q we work with our interns to help develop their research leadership and development skills, and enhance existing practical research skills.
Working with the intern and their current supervisor we develop a training plan, with a primary objective to advance the learning and understanding of the intern.
What are the expectations of an Intern at CARRS-Q?
The main responsibilities of a CARRS-Q intern are to:
- Undertake tasks in an independent but consultative way;
- Manage the research timeline;
- Report on progress at least weekly;
- Attend campus for the hours agreed on by the CARRS-Q supervisor and the intern; and
- Abide by the workplace health and safety requirements of Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and CARRS-Q.
CARRS-Q will provide office supplies including a desk, desktop PC and landline telephone. The intern is responsible for all other costs including food, lodging, medical expenses and the round-trip travel costs.
