Biomanufacturing advanced animal feed supplements

Project dates: 01/01/2016 - Ongoing

With increasing global demand for animal protein, there is a growing market for feed supplements that improve animal performance, especially feed utilisation. The project will establish a unique lab-to-market platform that will integrate key capabilities and facilities from each partner. Currently, no integrated facility exists that can discover, develop, manufacture and test novel animal feed supplements and this is inhibiting new products being taken to market. The project will assemble for the first time a facility in Queensland that will accelerate this path to market and will be the basis for future development and commercialisation of feed supplements.

Overall, innovations in this project will deliver new commercial products based on novel microbial fermentation production and delivery systems, along with streamlined efficacy protocols to provide detailed physiological information on animal metabolism and gut health.
