Yvonne Joho completed her PhD at the Australian National University in 2024, where her research focused on the development of plastic-degrading enzymes. During her doctoral studies, she applied advanced protein engineering techniques to create more active and stable enzymes capable of breaking down plastics and published her findings in high-impact journals.
Currently, Yvonne is a Postdoctoral Fellow funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), working with Professor Kirill Alexandrov at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She is passionate about applying research to address real-world challenges related to environmental sustainability and human health. Her current work focuses on developing protein-based biosensors with potential applications in environmental monitoring and biomedicine
