    Wanda joined the Centre for Tropical Crops and Biocommodities in 2006 as the Laboratory Coordinator for the Sugar Research and Innovations (now Bioprocessing) group.

    In this role Wanda set up the laboratory after the group moved from Mackay to Brisbane, re-established analytical methods and has maintained the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. Wanda also:

    • undertakes chemical and physical analyses of sugar industry samples/products and various biomass samples for both consultancy and research projects
    • trains Bioprocessing laboratory personnel in the methodology and instrumentation required for their research activities
    • prepares and updates Work Instructions (WI) and Risk Assessments (RA) and provide advice/assistance to other CTCB personnel in writing WI’s and RA’s
    • is involved in ensuring compliance with health and safety statutory and University policies and procedures.

    Wanda has extensive experience working with research groups in analytical chemical laboratories. Wanda has previously worked in the wastewater industry and was a key member of a team developing intellectual property in new materials.
