Kristy is a plant ecologist with a focus on applied research. She completed her PhD at the University of Queensland investigating some of the ecological impacts of the introduced plant pathogen myrtle rust (Austropuccinia psidii) on a native forest community. She is continuing this work at QUT as a research associate working on a National Environmental Science Program project that investigates attributes of wet sclerophyll forests that might make them more susceptible to myrtle rust impacts with the aim of informing forest management and plant conservation.
