Dr Fang (Ivy) Li

    Research Fellow, Faculty of Science

Ivy is a research fellow in the School of Biology and Environmental Science. Her current research focuses on developing and testing a novel protein-based anti-parasite treatment that is produced in nicotiana benthamiana plants using transient gene expression. Ivy is also involved in research projects in the field of animal physiology and pharmacology. Her central ability is biochemical research with advanced laboratory, experimental protocol design, and data analysis skills.

Ivy has worked in agricultural science in both China and Australia. She earned a Bachelor of Biological Sciences, and then a Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Beijing Forestry University, focusing on plant biology and seed optimization. In 2016, Ivy moved to Australia to complete a second Masters degree in Equine Science at the University of Queensland. She performed her doctoral research at the Queensland University of Technology on the identification and management of a specific disease (PPID) in horses.  Prior to moving to Australia, She worked primarily in the private sector as a patent attorney specialising in biochemical, biological pharmaceutical, chemical, and food patents.
