Thesis title: Engineering Fast-Responding Protein Biosensors Principal Supervisor: Prof Kirill Alexandrov Associate Supervisor/s: Dr Zhong Guo Expected final thesis submission date: Before 1 July 2024 CAB Research program: Genetics and Molecular Biology
Cagla Ergun Ayva (formerly Cagla Ergun) is a final year PhD candidate in Biotechnology and Genetics at Queensland University of Technology. Currently, she is also a Research Assistant working on protein-based biosensors in the laboratory of Prof Kirill Alexandrov.
Cagla has studied Chemical Engineering (BSc) at Bogazici University in Turkey. Additionally, she has a master’s degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering (MSc) from Koc University in Turkey. Her research interests include biotechnology, protein engineering, biological clock, biosensors, and computational biology. During her MSc degree, Cagla worked on human biological clock and how small molecules stabilizing circadian proteins influence the glucose metabolism.
Her ongoing PhD thesis topic focuses on developing and optimizing protein-based biosensors for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
