Thesis title: Synthesis of Functional Bio-based Nanoparticles from Rice Husk for Agrochemical Delivery Principal Supervisor: A/Prof Zhanying Zhang Associate Supervisor/s: Dr Morteza Hassanpour Expected final thesis submission date: Before 31 December 2024 CAB Research program: Bioprocessing
Andreia Abadia Borges Carneiro is a Chemical Engineer, currently working on her PhD at the Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy (CAB – QUT).
She is involved in developing novel strategies for processing biomass waste to generate value-added products. Specifically, she focuses on synthesizing bio-based nanoparticles from rice husk for agrochemical delivery. The use of rice husk as a bioresource for nanoparticle synthesis, to be used as nanocarriers for agrochemicals, not only addresses more sustainable processes in agriculture but also optimizes the economic performance of industries.
She also holds a Master’s by Research Degree in Chemical Engineering in the area of real-time optimization and process control for the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies.
During her PhD, she has the opportunity to work as a Laboratory Technician at the Central Analytical Research Facility (CARF), enhancing her laboratory skills, which help her to achieve promising results for her research at CAB.
