Doctor of Philsophy (University of Queensland)
Dr Amber Marshall is a Research Fellow/Senior Research Assistant at the Digital Media Research Centre where she is helping to progress a national research agenda for digital inclusion. She is currently working on projects relating to assessing digital capability, evaluating digital interventions, and the role of mentors in digital participation. Amber is an early career researcher focused on digital inclusion in regional, rural and remote contexts. Her passion for this work was fuelled by her experience living in rural and remote Australia (2014-2017), in particular her struggles to stay connected in bush while completing her PhD with the UQ Business School. To this end, Amber received funding from the Australia Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) to undertake research on digital connectivity on remote cattle stations in Far North Queensland. She partnered with The Cairns Institute (James Cook University) to undertake this work where she is an Adjunct Research Fellow. Amber is currently a Chief Investigator on a CRC for Developing Northern Australia project, Northern Australia Communications Analysis: investigating digital inclusion infrastructure, governance, policy and intervention.
