Children’s cough specific Quality of Life (QOL) – acute cough

Children’s Acute Cough QOL

Cough is the most common symptom presenting to general practitioners in Australia and internationally. The cough may be acute or chronic (>4weeks) and in some children it is associated with asthma whereas in others there is no asthma present. Cough is commonly used as an outcome measure in research and clinical studies.

Aim: This study aims to determine the burden of acute cough in children and to develop and validate parent and child completed children’s acute cough specific quality of life questionnaires.
This information will allow researchers and clinicians to better understand the impacts and effects of acute cough on children, parents and families. The validated quality of life questionnaires will be patient-relevant outcome measures to be used for evaluating studies in cough in children.
