Health and Wellbeing Co-leader Professor Kristin Laurens and colleagues recently wrote a piece in The Conversation titled: First Nations students are engaged in primary school but face racism and limited opportunities to learn Indigenous languages. The article highlights the importance of culturally responsive education and the need for policies and practices that support Indigenous languages and cultures, as well as the provision of culturally safe and trauma-informed support services to promote the academic and social-emotional wellbeing of First Nations students.
