My research goals are to provide better treatment and health outcomes for children with burn injuries. My previous NHMRC funded research of burn first aid treatment has resulted in changes in clinical practice internationally. I have a national and international reputation for my work with models of burn and wound healing and for rigorous assessment of novel wound healing therapies. Over the next 4 years, I will build on these strengths by harnessing burn models to provide evidence for clinical practice and health promotion and investigation of dressings/treatments to provide optimal healing of burn wounds. The outcomes from this research project include: 1) A national burn prevention and first aid education campaign 2) Re-writing the burn dose equation to predict tissue damage depth from temperature and duration of heat for clinical management and burn prevention 3) Understanding the pathology behind burn wound tissue injury and its re Text truncated.
