The Burns and Trauma Research Group is happy to welcome new PhD student, Morgan Carlton, to the team!
Welcome to the team Morgan “I’m completing a PhD with the Burns and Trauma Research Group. I have a proteomics background, which is the study of groups of proteins found in the body. I will be looking at saliva to find out if there are any good markers of stress that appear in saliva. It’s hard to tell if babies and toddlers who can’t speak yet are stressed, so I am hoping to identify protein groups that indicate stress and can be tested with a non-invasive saliva test. This is important as clinicians can alter their treatment or soothing strategies if a baby becomes more stressed during a procedure. This will lead to better long-term mental and emotional health of people who suffered burns and trauma as an infant.”
