Swathi Jayaraman commenced her higher degree with the QUT Biomechanics and Spine Research Group (BSRG) in October 2023. Swathi earned her Bachelor of Engineering (Bioengineering) with a second major in Pharmaceutical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her higher degree studies at QUT are supported by the QUT BSRG team’s Clayton Adam-Florence Wilson PhD Scholarship.
Swathi will explore ways to measure the stiffness of intervertebral discs in patients, obtain muscular and osseous geometries, and then incorporate this information into the FE braced spine model. Swathi’s Principal Supervisor is Associate Professor Paige Little. Co-supervision will be provided by Dr Sinduja Suresh, Adj Prof Geoff Askin, and Adj Prof Rob Labrom.
