Dr Mark Rainey joined the QUT Biomechanics Spine Research Group in 2024 as part of a 2 year combined Clinical/Masters position with the Queensland University of Technology and the Department of Orthopaedics at the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH). This position is proudly supported by Queensland X-Ray and the QCH.
His masters work focuses on apical vertebral rotation within a scoliosis curve and its role in this complex three-dimensional spine deformity. The study will provide valuable insight into the increasing role that MRI may play in evaluating idiopathic scoliosis early in its trajectory and identifying the risk of deformity progression.
