Dr Maisha Jamali

Queensland X-Ray Clinical Research Masters Student

    M.B.B.S., (James Cook University)

Dr Maisha Jamali joined the Biomechanics Spine Research Group in 2022 as part of a 2 year combined Clinical/Masters position with the Queensland University of Technology and the Department of Orthopaedics at the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH).  This position is proudly supported by Queensland X-Ray and the QCH.

Maisha’s masters project will focus on the safety and efficacy of epidural analgesia following posterior instrumented spinal fusion for progressive idiopathic scoliosis.

Epidural analgesia has remained an effective modality for post operative pain relief following scoliosis correction at the QCH, providing appropriate analgesia to improve patient outcomes after instrumented fusion surgery. This study will provide valuable data regarding peri-operative management of scoliosis and provide important evidence with regards to patient outcomes after surgery, with hopes to influence scoliosis management not only within Australia, but globally as well.
