Dr Laura Meszaros-Beller

Laura completed her PhD in 2023 under the supervision of the QUT Biomechanics and Spine Research Group (BSRG). Prior to joining QUT she was awarded BSc and MSc degrees in Medical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in 2016 and 2018.

Her research focused on the development, simulation and analysis of neuro-musculoskeletal (multibody) models of the spine to investigate their functional stability and load-sharing. As part of her PhD project, Laura also explored the possibility of reconstructing the spinal curvature from experimental data using 3D ultrasound imaging. This innovative approach has the potential to improve the diagnosis of spinal disorders and injuries, as well as to provide a benchmark for validating computational models.

Laura’s PhD was supervised by the BSRG’s Professor Peter Pivonka and Associate Professor Paige Little.  She was the recipient of the BSRG’s inaugural ‘Clayton Adam Florence Wilson Award’ (CAFW) PhD Scholarship.  See the following link for a featured CAFW Award Newsletter.
