Laura completed her PhD in 2022, under the supervision of the QUT Biomechanics and Spine Research Group (BSRG). Prior to her PhD Laura was awarded a Master of Science in Medical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 2018. Her PhD was supervised by the BSRG’s Professor Peter Pivonka and Associate Professor Paige Little. She had previously worked with A/Prof Paige Little as part of her Masters Studies, on a project to combine two different modelling methodologies to predict subject-specific spine mechanics. Laura was the recipient of the BSRG’s inaugural ‘Clayton Adam Florence Wilson Award’ (CAFW) PhD Scholarship and during her candidature she developed an EMG-informed musculoskeletal multibody model of the spine. Using this model she quantifed intervertebral disc pressure, intervertebral joint moments and spinal muscle recruitment during habitual motor tasks.
