Innovation in MedTech Webinar

We are please to invite you to the BridgeTech Program’s third seminar for the year, brought to you in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers and Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP).

Our speakers will bring dynamic perspectives on the topic of Innovation in MedTech.

We will hear from QUT’s Distinguished Prof Lyn Griffiths, followed by an overview of MDPP presented by Director, Prof Karen Reynolds. The winners of our PitchTech competition will also be announced by MDPP Innovation Manager, Stephen Blakeney.

Keynote speaker Prof Sultan Haider, founder and global head of Siemens Healthineers Innovation Think Tank (ITT), will be joining us from Germany, and Peter Bradley, Vice President, Global Business Development at LBT Innovations.

About our speakers

Prof. Sultan Haider is the founder and global head of Siemens Healthineers Innovation Think Tank (ITT). His inspiring vision to proactively drive innovation to improve human life has led to establishing 56 Innovation Think Tank activity locations globally, including innovation labs and certification programs. His impressive track record also includes vast product and portfolio definition project experience and over 500 inventions and patents. Prof. Haider was awarded Principal Key Expert by Siemens Healthineers Management Board in 2008. He has been honoured with Professorships and leadership roles, and has been invited to establish and conduct ITT programs by universities and hospitals.

Peter Bradley, Vice President, Global Business Development at LBT Innovations has more than 30 years’ experience in medical science, and drug and diagnostic product development, and the commercialisation expertise to get innovations to market. In a career spanning laboratory medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology and consulting, he has developed broad experience in business development, research management, technology commercialisation, and sales and marketing. Previously, Peter was Managing Director of Qatalyst BioConsulting, offering strategic and business development advice to biotech companies in Australia and New Zealand, and regional assistance to US-based companies.

Professor Karen Reynolds is Director of the Medical Device Research Institute (MDRI) and the Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP)  at Flinders University.  Bridging the divide between research and industry, Karen is considered as one of Australia’s leading researchers in biomedical engineering and has been recognised for her outstanding contributions.  She became an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia in 2017, awarded Engineers Australia David Dewhurst award in 2016, South Australian Scientist of the Year 2012, elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences (2011), and awarded Australian Professional Engineer of the Year (2010).

Prior to his role as Innovations Manager at the Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP), Stephen Blakeney worked within the health and medical team at the Department for Trade and Investment at the Government of South Australia and medical device cluster organisation MedTEC South Australia. Stephen started his career a mechanical design engineer and has previously worked for medical device companies in Australia and the UK, on a variety of devices from deep brain stimulation to ophthalmic devices and laparoscopic surgical equipment so he brings a great breadth of experience to the role. Stephen is the first point of contact for MDPP applicants, assessing the viability of new ideas and connecting them with the right expertise.
