Brag Meeting 20th July 2017

This fortnight (20th July) Earl and Aswi will be presenting at our BRAG meeting

Agenda:

This is designed to be an interactive talk where participants are required to think about some simple problems and how they should solve them.  No assumed knowledge of mixtures or label switching required.”

Aswi’s  talk: “The impact of small number of areas on spatial models: A simulation study

Bayesian hierarchical models are commonly used where any linear predictor and a set of spatial random effects is modelled. These spatial random effects are often represented by a CAR distribution. Some papers have compared several Bayesian spatial models used in disease mapping, however, there is no paper that examines how models perform over different numbers of areas. Here we investigate Bayesian spatial model specification when there are few areas. A range of Bayesian model specifications were considered, including the independent model, BYM model, Leroux model and Localised model (all with a Poisson likelihood).”

We look forward to seeing you there!

Best regards,

Shovanur and Matt
