My thesis is part of the FutureHear project, a joint initiative between QUT’s Biofabrication and Tissue Morphology (BTM) group and the charity, Hear and Say. The primary aim of my thesis and the FutureHear project is to develop 3D scanning and modelling techniques to model the unique internal cartilage structure of individual ears and develop novel 3D printing and bioprinting approaches to produce rapid, low-cost, and realistic customised treatment options for children with microtia. Microtia is a congenital disorder that affects the formation of either one or both ears and is often associated with Atresia, leading to impaired hearing.
