Mackenzi Oliver

    Final Year Engineering Student

    Background:

I am a final year Medical Engineering student, minoring in Robotics. I have previously interned within a research lab in Montreal, Canada, working on developing algorithms for 3D printable spine models for scoliotic surgery rehearsal. Throughout my studies, I have gained coding, CAD and additive manufacturing experience and have also enjoyed studies in Spanish.

    Current Research:

My current research builds on the work within the BTM group of understanding auricular cartilage. It involves a blended approach of investigating the biochemical and biomechanical properties of the ear and assessing relationships between them. Histological analysis is conducted using the novel large format histology technique previously developed by the BTM group. Developing a more accurate understanding between the biology of the ear and how it relates to its mechanical properties will lead to a more accurate scaffold for tissue engineered ears.

    Interests:

I have a keen interest in music – whether listening to it, playing it or experiencing it live.
