This week, we’re celebrating Naomi’s incredible achievements during her time as a PhD student and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at QUT over the last 7 years before she transitions to an exciting new role as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Oregon.
Naomi has published more than 20 articles in the field of biofabrication for developing personalised medical implants, tools and devices. Naomi has been selected as the national winner for the ATSE Ezio Rizzardo Polymer Scholarship and CSIRO Alumni Scholarship in Physics. She has also been awarded the QLD Women in Technology Life Science Young Achiever Award, QLD Women in STEM Prize Runner-Up, 3rd Prize for the International Biofabrication Society Young Investigator Awards and winner of the IHBI Inspires Judges Prize for Best Oral Presentation. In 2020 while under examination for her PhD, Naomi secured a 3-year Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellowship.
Naomi has been an invaluable member of the Biofabrication & Tissue Morphology Group, not only in her exceptional contribution to the team as a researcher but also as a mentor and friend. It’s been a privilege to have Naomi in the team and her impact in the team will be longstanding.
Naomi is an enthusiastic science communicator and STEM ambassador with the STEM for Schools (QUT) and Wonder of Science (UQ) programs. In recognition of Naomi’s contribution to STEM engagement and advocacy for Women in STEM, Naomi was announced as the QUT Student Leader of the Year 2019.
We wish Naomi all the very best for this exciting new step in her career and we’re proud of her amazing achievement for securing a Postdoctoral Scholar role at the University of Oregon!
