AEA Ignite Bioadhesives
QUT’s bioadhesive group has developed a range of novel underwater bioadhesives that have potential for wide commercial application in marine ecosystem restoration, the global shipping, underwater infrastructure, defence, and offshore oil and gas sectors. The focus of the AEA Ignite grant Bioadhesives for Underwater Applications lead by Prof. Barner is to advance the TRL level of our underwater bioadhesives product and test it in the field with Mars Coral Reef Restoration (MCRR), a world leader in coral reef restoration, and Reef Magic Cruises Pty. Ltd. – a tourist operator – as a first customer for our new technology. We will investigate the integration of bioadhesives in restoration practices to reduce dependencies on environmentally harmful materials, thereby creating more sustainable underwater adhesive solutions.
