Dr Samantha Paredes is a Postdoctoral Research fellow at the Centre for Behavioural Economics, Society and Technology, QUT. Samantha completed her PhD in economics at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2020. During her postgraduate candidature, Samantha held a postgraduate studentship at the CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. Samantha has worked on research projects for QUT Centre for a Waste-Free World; the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) and the Australian Government’s National Environmental Research Program (NERP) Marine Biodiversity Hub. Samantha is also a sessional academic in the School of Economics and Finance, QUT.

Samantha’s research has examined the value of local fisheries for the coastal community and tourism, as well as the role of offsets in compensating for damage in the coastal and marine environments. She has a particular interest in natural resource management, food tourism and consumer behaviour.
