Dr Nick Kelly is a Senior Lecturer in Interaction Design at the Queensland University of Technology, in the School of Design. He conducts research into design cognition, secondary design education, the design of online communities of teachers, and the underlying competencies needed by teachers to access them.
Dr Kelly was a 2018 Australian Endeavour Fellow at the University of Lleida, Spain. Dr Kelly is the co-author of Online Learning Networks for Pre-service and Early Career Teachers with Marc Clarà, Ben Kehrwald and Patrick Danaher. The author of over 75 academic publications, he has led several successive grants and held post-doctoral positions at the University of Sydney, the Pontifical University of Chile, the University of Southern Queensland, and Queensland University of Technology.
Dr Kelly is a cross-disciplinary researcher, with expertise and a track record in the fields of design and education research. His research is motivated by a desire to understand human cognition and ways to support human endeavours of learning and creating. His research most closely aligns with the “Trust and Behaviour in the Digital Economy” program at BEST and he has recently applied for a project with the Queensland DJAG.
