Queensland Election Spending Promises

Background:

The Election Spending Tracker Database has been developed by Dr Annette Quayle, Yi Wang and Sam Ong to track the spending promises of the major Queensland parties this election. The graphs below summarise the amount of money each party has announced to spend across the next 4 years on the portfolios listed in the legend. The left hand graph summarises the main parties and the right hand graph provides a close up comparison of the two main parties (Labour/LNP). The Greens have promised to spend a significantly larger amount of money than the other parties (Greens $81.4 billion, Labor $14.5 billon, LNP $10.46 billion, and Katter’s Australian Party $2.1 billion). Information on how to use the graph and links to all of the promises made can be found below.

Made with Visme Infographic Maker

Note: The amount listed on each portfolio is the sum of all promises made within that portfolio. A breakdown of individual costs can be found below.

How to use:

  1. Click or unclick an item on the legend to see how much each party promises to spend in this portfolio
  2. Hover over the chart to see the amount (in millions) that each party promises to spend
  3. Click the links below to learn more about the individual promises that each party has made

How data was collected:

The costs have been collected from each party’s election website. The following costs are missing from the graphs. Labor has not announced costs for 7,000 teachers/teachers’ aides and 9,475 health professionals. The LNP have not announced the cost over the next 4 years of the Bradfield Scheme. The Greens have not announced costs for 9,500 health care professionals, public pharma or the solar panel factory in Townsville. Katter’s Australian Party have numerous costs missing from their promises. United Australia Party has not issued any costings and so are not shown. Below are the sources for every individual promise made that has been included in the above graph.
