About the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies
The Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies (ACPNS) provides curated and relevant teaching, research, technology and service to the communities of philanthropic, social enterprise and nonprofit organisations.
Our strong industry links, along with specialised courses and practical teaching, give us the unique ability to foster leaders in organisations trying to change the world for the better. Our impacts including saving the sector money, providing fundraising solutions and creating valuable resources.
The centre was the first fully accredited member of the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council in the southern hemisphere, recognising its pioneering culture and leadership in the Australian context.
Goals
- Teaching and learning: to ensure that QUT students in philanthropy and nonprofit studies possess an education that enhances the capacity of the philanthropic, nonprofit and social enterprise sector.
- Research: to advance and apply knowledge germane to the philanthropic and nonprofit community in order to assist in policy reform, the creation of social capital and to enhance civil society.
- Technology: to bring the benefits of appropriate technology to the philanthropic, nonprofit and social enterprise sector.
- Community engagement: to contribute to the professionalism, effectiveness and international reputation of the Australian philanthropic, nonprofit and social enterprise sector by providing professional service and participating in policy reform relevant to philanthropy, nonprofit and social enterprise sector
