Thina has been part of the Allergy Research Group since 2016 as a PhD candidate. He completed his Honours in Medical Bioscience at Monash University Malaysia. Prior to joining QUT, he was appointed as a research assistant at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, sutdying the bioactivity of phytochemicals found in a local plant, Clinicanthus nutans, used widely in traditional medicine. Since joining QUT, he has collaborated with clinicians in the Queensland Children’s Hospital to set up the Pollen Allergy and Asthma Study (PAAS) to investigate the innate immune interactions of grass pollen extract with respiratory virus in allergic and asthmatic teenagers. Thina has collaborated with clinicians from across Australia to investigate the biogeographical variation of grass pollen allergen sensitivity across four states, as part of the Grass Pollen Allergy Study.
