The Aerodyne Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS) is used for real time size resolved composition of non-refractory submicron aerosol particles. Measured components include organics, as well as sulphate, nitrate, chloride and ammonium ions. Chemical composition measurement is based of combination of thermal vaporisation followed by electron impact ionisation and detection by Time of Flight (ToF) mass spectrometer. We have a high resolution Time of Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS, mass resolving power (m/Dm): 3000-5000) and a compact Time of Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (cToF-AMS; mass resolving power (m/Dm): ~800). Both instruments are field-deployable.
