The Addiction and ePsychology research groups are based at the Centre for Children’s Health Research opposite Lady Cilento Hospital. They are part of the Institute of Health & Biomedical Innovation and the School of Psychology & Counselling in the Faculty of Health. Three different areas of research are addressed by these groups: ePsychology, addiction (particularly within the QUT node of the Centre for Youth Substance Abuse), and imagery-based motivational interventions.
The research groups have overlapping membership, and all are directed by Professor David Kavanagh. Several projects span different areas: For example, an NHMRC project grant on an imagery-based motivational treatment for alcohol misuse is delivered by phone and uses a mobile phone app to assist participants to practise imagery.
