Project Summary
This research project aims to unravel the technological, economic, political and cultural forces that are shaping the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in news production in news media outlets of four Latin American countries in the region: Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Peru.
Using in-depth interviews as a methodological approach and sociology of news and the social construction of technology (SCOT) as theoretical framework, the project analyses the development of journalistic automated labour in societies where datafication is understudied, automated decision-making systems are slowly emerging and regulatory frameworks are almost non-existent.
