Background

Before joining QUT on a full-time basis, Tracey practised as a solicitor in commercial and real property law at the Brisbane office of Allens Arthur Robinson, Lawyers (now Allens Linklaters). The recipient of a British Chevening - Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship, Tracey completed her Master of Law Degree at the University of Cambridge. She is also a graduate of the B Business (Accountancy) / B Laws combined degree course at QUT, where she was awarded first class honors and a University Medal for her law studies.

Researching mainly in the area of Torts Law, Tracey has published and presented conference papers on the law of negligence, including the formulation of duties of care (and their interrelation with the availability of insurance and the concept of plaintiff vulnerability), causation, damages assessment and civil liability legislation.

In the area of health law and medical negligence, Tracey has a particular interest in information disclosure, informed consent and patient decision making. She is a member of the Australian Centre for Health Law Research.

Tracey's research interests also include the area of legal education - with an emphasis upon teaching pedagogy, peer programs and Generation Y students.
