PhD Student

Sarah Dillon is a PhD Candidate at the QUT Business School and the recipient of two scholarships from the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP). She uses multiple case study inquiry to study entrepreneurs working at the digital-physical interface in international contexts, to better understand the new world of work within next-generation firms.

Her PhD research examines how entrepreneurs’ emotions arise during international business activities, to shed light on the impact of different emotion regulation strategies on opportunity recognition processes. She has also studied experience accumulation within innovative international businesses; and technological diffusion amongst international freelance workers.

Prior to joining QUT, Sarah’s professional career spanned a range of roles over 15 years in international marketing and management. She has worked in, for, and with start-ups, small businesses and multinationals in Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, and the UK. She now calls Australia home.

Sarah is an Accredited Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Facilitator (Cultural Intelligence Center, USA), and has completed a Master of Business (by Research) in International Business from QUT Business School, a Master of Arts in Technical and Specialised Translation (German, French, & Spanish) from the University of Westminster, London, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Applied Languages (Spanish, French, & German) from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She also holds a Diploma in Business Coaching (AQF Level 5).
