Per Davidsson, a Professor of Entrepreneurship at QUT Business School, has been named the winner of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship for 2023. The award is widely considered the most prestigious award in entrepreneurship research (Often known as Noble Prize in Entrepreneurship Research!) and comes with a prize sum of 100,000 euros.
The Prize Motivation cited Professor Davidsson’s “pioneering and influential research contributions” and his work as a “community builder” in the field of entrepreneurship. Professor Davidsson has made significant contributions to the study of entrepreneurship, particularly in the areas of opportunity recognition, entrepreneurial behaviour, and firm growth.
Professor Davidsson’s research has been published in top academic journals, and he has been recognized with numerous awards and honours throughout his career. He has also served as a mentor to many young scholars in the field of entrepreneurship and has helped to build a strong and supportive community of researchers at the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research which he initially created and directed (2010-2018).
The Global Award for Entrepreneurship is presented annually to a scholar who has made significant contributions to the field of entrepreneurship. The award recognizes not only the recipient’s research accomplishments but also their role as a leader and mentor in the field.
