Research Student Yunkun Qu, is a first-year PhD student at the Queensland University of Technology’s Cardiovascular Technology Laboratory. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2020 and earned a master’s degree in surgery in Tongji Hospital in 2023. During his three years of scientific research for his master’s degree, his primary research areas included osteoarthritis and aortic dissection. He also acquired various common experimental skills in molecular biology. At present, his primary research focuses on understanding biological changes of endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells under different biomechanical environments with multidisciplinary approach, such as 3D printing, microfluidics, molecular biology, and biomechanical analysis. He is enthusiastic about contributing to the understanding of arterial aneurysm mechanisms and translating these findings into potential therapeutic applications.
