Research Student Ruoyan Meng is a first-year PhD student at the Queensland University of Technology’s Cardiovascular Technology Laboratory. He holds a bachelor’s degree of Internet of Things Engineering in Hebei University of Technology and a master’s degree of information technology in the University of New South Wales. With the background of information processing, Ruoyan had joined a new drug research and development project as an intern and got experience of processing biological data from cells, which aroused his interest in biomedical engineering. Through his PhD research, Ruoyan aims to link his knowledge of artificial intelligence into the field of biomedical engineering. Specifically, Ruoyan and his supervision team are working to develop an auto diagnosis of cardiovascular disease based on multi-modal machine learning methods to provide a new approach for comprehensive diagnosis of cardiovascular disease especially risk stratification through medical images, computational fluid dynamics and other diagnostic technologies.
