The third Research Forum of the Australia-China Centre for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (ACCTERM) will be held from 5 – 7 November 2015 in Surfers Paradise, Australia.
The Forum will be hosted by ACCTERM, the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The location of this year’s forum is Surfers Paradise. The city, located on Queensland’s Gold Coast, is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Australia. Surfers Paradise is where you’ll find the perfect fusion of city and beach lifestyles set amidst a spectacular skyline and brilliant stretch of coast.
It is our intention for this year’s Forum to bring together researchers, practitioners, and decision makers from Australia and China to share knowledge and research interest in a diverse range of topics related to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The topics for this forum will include but are not limited to:
- Joint/cartilage regeneration.
- Bone tissue engineering and musculoskeletal biomechanics.
- Platform technology for stem cells, biomaterials, and drug assessment.
- Regenerative medicine in dentistry.
The partners are also expected to converse on other elements of ACCTERM, such as; academic and research staff exchange, joint degree opportunities, and the development of collaborative international research proposals.
Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine is an area of research that focuses on the regeneration of diseased or damaged tissues to restore the organ functions. ACCTERM, established in 2013, is a communication platform to seek innovative solutions to the challenging issues in this field, to inspire the next generation of biomedical researchers, and to attract financial support from grant agencies.
The past year has witnessed an exciting and fruitful collaboration between the ACCTERM partners with increased joint publications, staff exchanges, and funding from the prestigious Queensland-Chinese Academy of Sciences (Q-CAS) Collaborative Science Fund Scheme. There can be no doubt that ACCTERM this year will continue on this successful path to provide opportunities for scientists to highlight their discoveries, expand their intellectual horizons and build valuable collaborations that will enrich their research.
