Prof Sadiq publishes on the case for a universal income in South Africa
Prof Kerrie Sadiq during her time as visiting professor in South Africa in 2019 collaborated with Professor Hanneke du Preez, University of Pretoria, to co-author a paper that investigates a universal basic income (UBI) model which provides a minimum payment to all citizens of a jurisdiction. This conceptual study investigates how the model can be used to address both poverty and income inequality, which is theoretically distinct from the traditional tax and transfer systems adopted by most jurisdictions.
